Medieval Clothing

While primarily I work with fashions of the 19th century, I do work in other eras as well. Below are some examples of my work and as always, if you have a garment or an idea contact me to discuss your ideas!

Late Medieval Gown  New!

This late medieval gown is based on a portrait of Lady Giovanni. The burgundy cotton lies in rich, full, folds for the long, trained skirt. The empire bodice is elaborately ornamented with orange ribbons, gold beads and embroidered flowers taken right from the portrait. A white linen chemise is worn underneath. The sleeves are attached to the bodice with ribbon allowing the chemise to puff out between the ribbons. This is a very comfortable gown and can be worn in any weather to your favorite Faire.

These elaborately embroidered stays are too beautiful to be covered! Based on the corset worn by an effigy of Queen Elizabeth in England, these fully boned stays have straps and tabs at the bottom to help distribute the weight of heavy skirts. They are front lacing so the wearer never needs help to get into them. The conical shape makes them very comfortable to wear as does the imitation reed boning. Cotton fabric allows for comfort on hot days. The all-over pattern of embroidery is executed in a fall color palate consisting of oranges, yellows, greens, browns, and tan. The maple leaves on the prominent back tabs are especially exquisite being worked in several shades to achieve a life-like appearance.
