I became certified as a kilt maker from the nationwide renowned
kilt maker, Elsie Steutmeyer this summer. Kilts for men, women, children,
dancers, pipers, drummers, athletes
and anyone who wants to wear them are now available. I can also make vests
and jackets that conform to Highland Dance
standards (see the Highland Dance Wear page). The kilts are completely
hand-sewn using age-old professional techniques as taught by Elsie who has
been making kilts in Scotland and the US for over 50 years. You provide the
tartan of your choice.

Made for Mr. Macho, this lovely kilt was made with the full 9 yeards of
the Morrison tartan. It went together beautifully!

This is my first kilt— Cummings tartan made up for Dad's piping
student Peter Cheney. It was a big set and a heavy weight. It made up beautifully
due to my desire to be perfect on the pleating. Even Elsie commented on
how good I did as a first-timer! These are the pleats being held in place
for ironing by basting stitches.
